Pick-up volleyball

Court Splitter

How many turned up, how many nets you’ve got — and the number to count up to in the circle so everyone lands on the right court.

1. Who turned up

2. Team size

Six a side is the cap. Auto steps down to 5, then 4, only when it has to.

Best fit — as close to 6 a side as the numbers allow

2 courts × 2 teams

Round the circle, then start again at 1.

1&2
Court 15 v 5
3&4
Court 24 v 4

Odd numbers are team A, even numbers are team B.

It doesn’t divide evenly. The last lap runs out partway, so the low numbers pick up the extra player and the highest numbers end up a player short.

4. What that gives you

2 courts · 5v5 · 4v4

18 players · 2 of 2 nets in use · nobody sits out
